I am not sure what the answer is, but I can tell you that "midget" is a very offensive and polically incorrect term...It is like calling an African American a n*gger. The correct medical term is dwarf. When speaking to them or about them "dwarf" and "little person" are the two most acceptable terms.

I was a midget in high school....As was every student there. According the the school's website, the tallest midget on the basketball team is a 6' 6" junior.

I have no idea.
I will at least offer what I do know: I knew a girl growing up who was a midget. She was the tallest midget I'd ever seen, and she was around 4'4".
There were genetic markers, though, that classified her as........ now I can't remember if she was a midget or a dwarf....
