the question is who is better, not which will be taken in the draft first.

someone said there are plenty of players out there like durant???????????? he is putting up numbers never before seen at the college level (this includes the history of the game)......36 points and 25 rebounds?...doesnt he average 30+ points and 12+ rebounds per game. basketball analysts are all saying they have never seen a talent like this guy at this level. he is 6'9" and has a wingspan of 7'5" and can play shooting guard better than anyone. he could play any position at the next level and if you put him on an nba team tommorow, he would score 25-30 a game. He rebounds very well, passes very well, handles the ball well, blocks shots, defends. he is the total package.

oden looks like he will be a great big man, but durant is the total package. make no mistake he is definitely better at this point. teams could have four people guarding him and he would still score (he has seen everything but that and he is producing like no one ever has)

Well, I live in Memphis and if you keep up with the NBA this year, you know the Grizzlies aren't doing too well so there's a high chance that one of them will be here next here. After looking at both, right now Kevin Durant is better, not saying Greg Oden can't end up being better. The thing is, if Durant is better now, and they both are young, both of them will probably continue to get better, making me to believe Durant could continue to be better. He can play inside and outside, shoot threes, rebound, block shots, steal the ball, handle the ball, pass the ball and play pretty much any position, and he's 6'9"! Oden is pretty much an inside guy, if you watch the NBA now, with the exception of Shaq, who's on the downside of his career, and maybe Yao, the big men can now play a little inside and out, and even Yao has a jump shot worth defending. Durant is at the point where if Texas is playing, people, including myself, want to turn on the TV to see what he does. The guy put up like 37 points and 23 boards last week against Bobby Knight's Texas Tech and had like 28 and 15 against Texas A&M and is averaging around 30 in conference play as a freshman. Oden hasn't hit me as anything special besides him being crazy long and able to block shots, which Durant doesn't rank far behind him in blocks! I must admit, it is intriguing to know Oden is pretty much playing left handed and he is right handed, which makes you wonder how good he will be when his right hand is healed, but he still doesn't have anything that makes him worlds above Durant like we all thought he was. Hopefully the Grizz get Durant here in Memphis and I'll say watch out world with Rudy Gay and Durant running the wings! Seriously, one night, just watch a Texas game and watch an Ohio State game and you can answer the question yourself!

you really cant compare each others playing styles, its like trying to compare apples and oranges. Kevin durant is a scorer, he reminds me of a shawn marion, or josh howard who can score a lot more. Kevin durant isnt as polished on the defensive end though, and thats were the difference is.

What greg oden lacks in scoring ability, he definately makes up in defensive presence. Greg oden reminds me of Ben wallace, but greg oden is better because he can go out and give you 18 points a night.

Now if i was the gm of the bobcats, or the grizzlies, and i had the first pick in the draft, i think i might have to pick up Greg oden. Unlike greg oden, i think kevin durant is going to struggle when he first enters the league, defenses are much better, and it is harder to score easily in the nba. Once greg oden enters a game, he brings an immediate presence that changes the game, you know when greg oden is in the game you cant bring any weak kool-aid, you have to bring the strong stuff, or greg oden is going to send it right back to you.

Let me put it in a short and simple way

Durant Comparasins: Dirk Nowitzki, Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett, George Gervin.

Total NBA championships: zero.

Oden Comparasins: David Robinson, Tim Duncan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Bill Russell.

Total NBA championships: seventeen

I love Durant and think he will be better than KG but in reality big men win you championships, not swingmen. Really both players will be future franchise players for their team.

Edit: Also Durant's stats are slightyl skewed. Durant is playing on a team where he is basically the only constant threat on offense so of course he is gonna have outstanding numbers. Oden is playing on a team where he's like the 3rd or 4th option on offense so 15 ppg is pretty damn good. As for defense it isn't even close. Oden is light years ahead of Durant on defense and can be the top interior defender in the NBA.

That's a tough question. I would say Oden because I think he is a rarer talent at this position. He is a true freshman and has played most of the season with his off hand. Let his hand heal, let him add another 20 pounds and he should dominate as a C at the NBA level.
Durant is a great player. If my team lacked a dynamic swing-man and was fairly solid in the middle I would prefer Durant.
Overall I go with Oden. He will dominate the paint offensively and defensively at the NBA level.

Durant is a great all-around player. He does it all and is far more talented the Oden. Oden, however, is probably more sought after in the NBA due to the lack of good centers.

Greg Oden could be better for a 7 footer, but he is only a freshman. Durant has skill, but he is not a team player, so I'd rather have Mike Conley of OSU

i think kevin durant is better and will have a better and quicker impact on a team in the nba than oden. oden is good but i think he is overrated. first of all, he has one good wrist. he plays good with one good wrist but he could be better with 2. all i've seen from him is dunks and a few blocks. he needs to get his weight up if he really wants to be a force in the nba. kevin durant is ridiculous. he is the new millenium kevin garnett! he can shoot, rebound, handle the rock and defend! i think he is gonna be very hard to defend in the nba plus, he also needs to get a little more muscle if he wants to be unstoppable. oden could be another dwight howard if he gets his size.
