You have the wrong bearings in most likely. You can get "plastigauge" and measure the clearence. It will not be right.

Another wannabe mechanic like me. Except buy the HAYNES REPAIR MANUAL to tell you what to do. Did you buy a new crank or did you get it turned. You know if you get it turned you most likely will not get the same bearings again. Those thousandths of an inch make a difference.

Anyway, buy the book and it will explain what to do. It would take to long to explain.

Use a brass or rubber mallet to whack the center of the ENDS of the crankshaft a few times. Sometimes the oil surface tension will cause the shaft to lock down. That is assuming you lubed the main inserts and the crankshaft main journals before torquing the nuts and / or bolts down.

Did you install the main caps in the proper direction? If that wrong cap on wrong journal will cause this.Also make sure your torque is right don't confuse standard and metric torque numbers.
