I have just bought a creative 5.1 Inspire P580 surround sound system and a Creative Sound Blaster Live Digital 5.1 sound card (SB0100) and, eventually got it to work!!1 But I cannot get the centre speaker to work. I did a test on all the speakers and the centre one was fine. But if i play music it wont work, or play music direct from the internet (youtube) it wont work then either!!
All help greatly appreciated!!

I have made my comp to 5.1, and it still wont work!!

Your speakers are 5.1 analog surround.
Hence the only time you will hear sound from all 5 speakers is when you are listening to a source recorded in 5.1.
If the source is stereo (2 channels) your speakers cannot produce 5.1 sound, except by cheating.
There may be an option on your speakers or in your souncard properties that will allow you to upmix stereo sound into virtual 5.1 sound. I say this because it's NOT true 5.1 it will not sound as good as true 5.1 source.
Now the only other issue : if you ARE PLAYING A 5.1 SOURCE, like a DVD, and you still cannot get sound from all speakers,
then go into the windows control panel, and open the speaker's properties, and make sure the windows is set to use 5.1 speaker setup.
I doubt you will get 5.1 feeds from you tube.

Have you been into the sounds settings in control panel, speaker settings, advanced and changed the speakers from desktop to 5.1 surround?

not sure maybe the music has to be encode with 5.1 to get true 5.1 surround? dose dvd films work on it?
