I mean, after all... they are trying to claim the Kennedy would have been a republican in todays world.. and that FDR would have been as well.. it seems like they want to lay claim to all of the great democratic presidents of old.

They are already claiming he was a Republican because we had a strong economy back then. And now they are saying that Bush is not really a Republican... Poor dorks, they're confusing themselves!

The first two years of the Clinton administration were a catastrophe. Do some research. Then the Republicans, thanks to their Contract With America, gained a majority in Congress. Clinton was smart enough to sign most of the measures passed by the Republicans and then he benefited by the dot com boom. Those two factors above all gave us the short-lived surplus. Unfortunately, the right got caught up in their success and abandoned the Contract. It's all very well to talk about the balanced budget and the surplus, but you really need to learn what was behind those things. The balanced budget was a major part of the Contract with America. Which again, was sent to Clinton's desk by Republicans.

If you bothered to read about those two men you would know the majority of stances they took were far closer Conservatives than Liberals.

FDR started Social Security because he recognized the government could not take care of everyone totally.

Kennedy's most famous words were 'ask NOT what your country can do for you, but what YOU can do for your country'.

And in his inaugural address he use the word God often enough to get it banned from public schools today. Who knows he'd probably get kicked out of the Democratic party today for using God as the reason for doing something.

Then LBJ who was supposed to be somewhat conservative came along and started the wholesale raid on Social Security and the most massive give away program ever with his war on poverty.

Your problem is you only remember what the Democrats of old did, not what they stood for. Present day Democrats all suffer from Alzheimer's. They can remember forty years ago but they can't remember what they said yesterday.*LOL*

No, but the democrats do say the partys switched and that they are the ones who fought for civil rights, with the likes of Robert Byrd in their corner.

Huh?

The point is that the Democrats keep moving left. They USED to be for the working man, but now they are for the wealthy people who inherited their money, and the lazy people who choose not to make their lives better on their own, but instead choose to steal from us working people through government programs.

More and more people are realizing this and changing to Republicans.
