The Night of the Long Knives (Saturday June 30 and Sunday July 1, 1934) (German, Nacht der langen Messer), also known as Reichsmordwoche, "Operation Hummingbird" or "the Blood Purge", was a lethal purge of Adolf Hitler's potential political rivals in the Sturmabteilung (SA; also known as storm troopers or brownshirts). The SA was the paramilitary organization of the Nazi Party that had helped the Nazis rise to power in the Twenties, culminating with Hitler being appointed Chancellor of Germany in 1933. The name, "Night of the Long Knives", is a reference to the massacre of Vortigern's men by Angle, Jute, and Saxon mercenaries in the Arthurian myth.
Occurring over a weekend, the purge targeted SA leaders and members who were associated more with socialism than with nationalism, and hence were viewed as a threat to the continued support for Chancellor Adolf Hitler within the Army and conservative business community that had supported Hitler's rise to power. During this event, however, the Gestapo also targeted conservative rivals and elements within and outside the regime, and the purge did not focus on suppressing the Communists or Social Democrats, the Nazi Party's primary foes from the left.
Official records tally the dead at 82, including almost the entire SA leadership, though some 200 alleged opponents of the Nazi regime are believed to have been killed.
In Germany
Main article at Enabling Act of 1933.
An Enabling Act (Ermächtigungsgesetz in German) was passed by Germany's parliament (the Reichstag) on March 23, 1933. It was the second major step after the Reichstag Fire Decree through which the Nazis obtained dictatorial powers using largely legal means. The Act enabled Chancellor Adolf Hitler and his cabinet to enact laws without the participation of the Reichstag. The formal name of the Enabling Act was Gesetz zur Behebung der Not von Volk und Reich ("Law to Remedy the Distress of the People and the State").
The most important event in Hitler's life was the defeat of Germany in 1918 which led to the Armistice in 1919. All his Nazi doctrine can be seen as rooted here. He believed International Jewry was responsible for the collapse of the Home Front. In his eyes Germany was not defeated on the battlefield, they were let down by the German's at home. As a proud Austrian who had adopted Germany as his home he was shamed and angered by this.

1.deprived the SA of power and thus removed an obstacle for Hitler (SA had become too powerful and demanded its prize for the succesful revolution)
2. it gave Hitler full control over germany and allowed him to override
constitutional restrictions
3. Pasewalk experience (hitler was wounded and temporarily blinded at the end of WWI, at the same time germany surrendered) because Hitler says it was what made him decide to become a politician.
not sure about the last one, so that leaves some work for you.

The night of the Long Knives is important because...you want someone to help you with your homework.
The enabling act was a turning point because... you don't feel like looking it up yourself.
I think the death of Hitler was the most important event of Hitlers life because... he was dead, and the world was a much better place for it.
