With treatment, kennel cough usually runs its course in 14 days.
If the dog has been untreated, the kennel cough may have developed into a more severe infection (like pneumonia), and will need another visit to the vet for more intense medication and care.

Kennel cough is just like a cold that you might get that causes a cough. It varies in length. Some people treat it with anitbiotics, but it's viral so the antibiotics only help against secondary infections. If you haven't taken your dog in though, you should as many other things can cause a cough - heart disease, pneumonia, among others.

I has a collie which was out of Battersea dogs home. She was a great dog. She had kennel cough for about 6 weeks and she was seeing the vet twice a week. If you havent already please take you dog to the vets. This is serious stuff and how can I tellyou... its deadly serious. My dog pulled through and she lived for 15 years. Don't delay. Good luck.

It took my dog FOREVER to get over it. Probably 4 or 5 weeks of taking clavamox before it went away.
