Im 5 months pregnant and have a general healthy diet, lots of fruit, breat, potatoes, chicken etc. I don't drink or smoke. Tonight my husband and I are going out to celebrate his new job with a thai meal. Tomorrow I am having a meal with friends in an Indian restuarant. Is this really bad???? I dont do it often? Also what sort of meals are healthiest?

What's wrong with going out to eat? Just make sure it is a good clean restaurant, the food is cooked all the way, and piping hot.

actually indian food is very healthy for you. They don't cook in all the greases and fats like a lot of restaurants do. They offer chicken, beef, and lamb as most of the main courses, with a variety of yummy vegetables and rice. They use lots of seasoning to give it flavor. Not to mention, the portions are different than what you would find in an "American" or even "Italian" and others as well. Much smaller portions. I think you will enjoy it very much. Every time I have ever had Indian food I have always felt satisfied, not full or stuffed.

I reccomend the Tandoori chicken to for your first time there because it isn't extremely strong in spices.

Girl you have been doing everything you need to do for the past 5 months. Go out and enjoy yourself. You deserve it. These two meals are not going to throw anything off

Just avoid anything to spicy because of heartburn

Ethnic foods are usually good, but watch for preservatives to keep the color in foods better and longer. Research that restaurant with your local health dept. they should have a nurse on staff there for your questions.Remember not much sugar and no caffeine, set in a none smoking area, second hand smoke is worse for your unborn baby. Watch your sugar intake. other than that I think it's great.

Its not bad to eat out while pregnant... as long as its not everyday and you are eating healthy.. I know I craved the chicken and bacon toasted sandwich at subways for my son for about 3 months of my pregnancy.. and I had a friend who would crave mcdonald fries... she had to have them everyday... so one meal that is not completely healthy for you is ok.. plus most restaurants have alot of great food to eat... so I wouldn't worry about it. I am pretty sure every pregnant women eats something unhealthy everyday... goodluck

You are fine! Be careful of fish that might have Mercury in it and soft cheeses. Watch out for beverages/products (dairy mostly) that are NOT pasturized - honey is one of them. Yum - at the thai place have some pinapple rice for me! =)

Sheesh, you're just pregnant, its not life threatening! You know what's healthiest, you listed all of them at the beginning of your question. Just pick something similar off the menu.
