I had the exam 6 years ago, there was nothing wrong, l had my son about a year later. It was mildly uncomfortable, my doc suggested taking an advil beforehand, which I think helped.

I had a HSG...it was mre uncomfortable than anything...a lot of the time the dye pushes out whatever blockages there are. Tell her to take 2 tylenol about 20 minutes before the test. What they do is clamp off your cervix, and inject teh dye into your uterus, and up into your fallopian tubes...then they xray to look for blockages. You will feel a little crampy afterwards. Tell her to take a panty liner with her for afterwards because there is sometimes some bleeding after from the clamp on the cervix.

I had the test and maybe im soft but i found it painful! All i kept thinking was child birth must be worse so get over it! I took two painkillers before the test. I have pcos and had to take progesterone to induce a period and they think maybe that added to the pain?
I dunno she made me bleed and had to try a smaller clamp i nearly fainted!
The doctor told me that everything looked ok and the pain can also mean a small blockage has been removed.
She also told me it increases your chances of ttc.
I had mine in June last yr.
Not pregnant yet but having fun trying!

I have had that test and I have had surgery to help me get pregnant. The recover time took about a week and it was not painful for me, just uncomfortable. It has been two months after that and I am still not pregnant. = (

Yes, tube was unblocked by the exam itself, and have 2 healthy boys since then (without meds).
