Tell you what... Come over to my house and observe what the lone inhabitant with Tourette's does. I never shouted swear words. And Tourette's is not funny. Strange how it seems to be a perpetual form of amusement for some people on this forum...

Whatever appeared to make others uncomfortable I dare say. From what I understand Tourettes is a condition where the afflicted unconsciously shouts words thay know will upset the general population because they believe these words are wrong.

But truthfully I don't really understand the mechanations of Tourettes. This is just what I've heard and may be a load of s**t...

Tics involving vocalizations include:

tongue clicking
making strange or inappropriate noises such as yelping
repeating others’ words or phrases (termed echolalia)
uttering swear words or racial slurs (called coprolalia, this phenomenon only occurs in about 15% of people with Tourette’s Syndrome

so they dont just swear

They would just shout, say something that expresses anger, or twitch. Pretty much they'd just have spasms of anger. That is what little kids with Tourettes do.

Not everyone with Tourette's uses profanity...for some it is just a noise, a head and/or body movement, and for some with a very mild form, a facial tic...

swear words are just words that people have given a negative connotation to.. if those swear words didn't exist, people would just replace them with other words and give them the same meaning.
