When will freedom of speech be an equal opprotunity right? When will it be o.k. for Conservatives and Republicans to express their thoughts without reprecution? Why do Liberals get away with saying and doing whatever they feel like doing, but conservatives loose their jobs and god given american right to express freely

"Reprocussion", "lose", and "God-given"

Well, I would say that liberals are less scrutinized because the whole liberal theory is that every person has every right imaginable, and if someone ever accuses a liberal of saying whatever the hell he or she wants to say without thought of the consequences, he will respond by saying "Well, isn't that the point? I can say whatever I want"

Liberals care about respecting everyone's rights. So do conservatives. The difference is the point of view. Liberals are more concentrated on "My rights", whereas conservatives are concerned about "The People's rights". Any democrat who feels "my rights have been disrespected" will shout out against it. A republican won't really do so because "the people" are more important, and if I feel disrespected, it's because "the people" prefer it. Thus liberals scrutinize conservatives moreso than the other way around.

If an employer wants to fire an employee whose opinions he/she doesn't like--you have no cause for complaint. That was--and continues to be--the conservative position (as well as the excuse racists and bigots use for trying to silence workers and minorities).

Otherwise--re your question--if you don't like being criticized, tough. Taking the heat for what you say--good, bad, or indifferent--is part of free speech. The first ammmendment doesn't do anything but prevent the GOVERNMENT frrom restricting your right of free expression. If your neighbors don't like what you have to say, that's your problem.

Funny, but liberals seem to feel the same way about the other side. We in the middle laugh at the idiocy of both sides and the petty bickering. Be glad you have the right to even write something here. In some countries you wouldn't.

A few years ago when the Neocon's had all the power the shoe was on the other foot. I guess you could say what goes around, comes around.

By the way no one is stopping you from saying your piece they may argue with what you say but allow you to say it anyway.

and to Meow see if you substitute liberal and conservative you see how the other side views you. You seem to think it is okay for you to criticize others but not for them to criticize you. That is hypocrisy.

One misconception about Freedom of Speech:

"Freedom of Speech" basically means that the government cannot penalize you if you speak (with certain exceptions, of course).
Freedom of Speech does not make you immune from the consequences of your actions. If I decide to walk around spouting my opinion, liberal or conservative, and people take offense to it, I have to accept any reprocussions of that. With any freedom comes the responsibility to exercise it wisely.

I've never lost my job because I made myself indespensible at my work. However, I have noticed that liberals I talk to do not accept my views as, well, my views. They just want to argue. That turns me off because I listen to what they have to say. Long story short...when someone does that to me they lose any relevance they might have had.

let me know when you come back down to earth, ok. I have only experienced republicans doing that. As soon as you shoot down there argument they turn to name calling. I dont know how many times I have been called a commie, pot smoking hippy or whatever. It happens on both sides, and if you dont see that then your blind and there is no help for you. it's great how republicans can only give thumbs down and not defend themselves.
