I've done lots of baby showers and am running out of games. A co-worker put me in charge of planning the games for another co-worker's shower. Any ideas? We'll be in a restaurant, so we can't get too physical or loud.

Thank you

For my sister's bridal shower I read a poem about her and her fiance. Everyone sat in a circle and I passed out four gifts. I read a poem and every time I said right they passed the gift to the right, when I said left it went to the left. You can find the poem online or you can make up your own.
Also we did a purse scavenger hunt. I made a list of 30 items and gave everyone a list and a bag. they had two minutes to put what they had in the bag. We actually had someone with 20 items!! Everyone liked that the games aren't the typical ones you have at showers!

A wildly popular baby shower sport is the rice and safety pin game. Fill a bowl 3/4 of the way full with dry rice. Add a packet of tiny gold safety pins and mix them in well. One at a time, blindfold each guest and give them the chance to remove as many safety pins as possible in one minute. This sounds easier than it is! The pins and rice feel very similar and many of those participating will likely end up with a small pile of rice.

For this baby shower game you will need a baby-sized or large doll, a cloth diaper, two diaper pins, and a watch with a second hand. For guests who are already experienced parents, provide a pair of bulky mittens to even the playing field. The contestant who posts the fastest diapering time is the winner! Another variation on this game is to play a game (with each couple working together) to assemble a Port-a-crib. Mittens to the experienced! These games might seem quite silly, but they are guaranteed to fill a room with howling laughter.

All baby shower guests sit in a circle. Give one of the guests a wrapped gift. Then read the following story. The guests pass the gift to the person on either their right or left, depending on what is said in the story. Whoever has the gift by the end of the story, wins the gift!

To help players with this baby shower game, post the words prominently on a board where they can be seen often. If someone is caught saying one of the words on the list, that person has to give up a treasure from their stash. The player with the biggest haul of goodies at the end of the game is the winner! If you choose to use baby bottles, each guest can keep the prizes they win, but the bottles can be given to the new mother. This game is always a big hit

If you've done lots of showers then you probably know all the games. Just because you've done them before doesn't mean that the others have. Or even if they have, you expect those type of games at baby showers.

There's the "No Saying Baby" game where everyone has a safety pin (decorated with baby themed beads) and if you hear someone say "baby" you get their pin and whoever has the most pins wins.

Then there's the "How Big Around is the Pregnant Girl" game where you get everyone to get a length of string (I've seen it done with toilet paper, too) that they think will fit around the preggo's belly and the closest wins.

Those are both pretty calm for a restaurant.

You can take the labels off the food jars and guess what they are by smell. Fill a tray with various baby items, show it to everyone, then take it away and see who can remember & write down the most. You can also play a version of baby Scatergories. Come up with nine different catergories on paper, such as baby names, foods, hospitals, clothing brands, etc... Then make copies ahead of time. Pass them out to each player. Then, pick a letter of the alphabet and each catergory must be filled in with something that starts with that letter. If anyone has the same answer, it is not counted. Whoever has the most unique answers is the winner. We usually play like 2 or 3 rounds, using different letters of the alphabet. You can also pass around an empty journal and have people write their best advise for the new parents.

For my baby shower they made a crossword puzzle out of silly questions. My birthday, my husband's bday, my favorite craving during pregnancy, how many weeks am I etc... They also had a word scramble game. What was really fun was the game where everyone is given a clothespin upon arrival. If someone hears you say baby or makes you say the word baby they collect your pin. The person with the most pins at the end of the shower gets a prize. Also the game with a bowl of rice filled with safety pins. Who ever gets the most safety pins wins, and they must be blindfolded. Believe me they feel the same when your blindfolded. Baby Bingo is another good one.

There are several games that aren't too loud, most involve paper and pencil. You could do things like a word search or a scrambled word puzzle with baby terms. Or, Baby A-Z where each guest has to list a baby item for every letter and the person who has the most non-repeated answers wins. Also, there is the animal match where you list a bunch of animals (cow, horse, duck, dog, etc.) and the guests have to write down what the baby is called (calf, colt, duckling, puppy, etc.) or they can match them up.
For non-paper and pencil games, you can pick an item like cotton balls, q-tips or diaper pins, and fill a jar with one of them and have guests guess how many are in there.

There are several web sites out there that have other great ideas if you search for "baby shower games".

I can't help you with the games thing. BUT after reading the other responses, I feel the need to throw in my opinion.

I would totally NOT APPRECIATE the whole "string around the belly" thing. Especially since this is your co-worker (not a close friend) and you'll be in a restaurant, not a private house. Put yourself in her shoes...

Just my thought :) Sorry if it's inappropriate

I remember this pastime they performed on the final toddler bathe I went to. It became style of gross, yet cool. you're taking a pair of sparkling diapers and placed a different style of customarily melted chocolate in all of us. huge form the diapers a million-4 or despite. You supply all people an entire set of the diapers and that they'd desire to eat the chocolate...which completely looks like poop. Lol. you initiate with #a million and paintings your way up. Whoever is the 1st guy or woman to wager each and each huge form gets a prize. and then there would desire to be yet another prize for the guy who guessed the main good. Use different goodies like ordinary, nut, carmel etc. have exciting!
