You should learn the difference between climate change and weather patterns.

Are you one of those people that thinks if they don't actually see a glacier melting or a lake drying out in your town, then global warming isn't happening? Hmm..I guess the rest of the world is just stupid, right?

Through out the history of the world, the Earth has seen many different, erratic climate changes. "Global Warming" could very well be the next cycle in the grand climate time line of the Earth.

Not to say that we shouldn't take care of the environment, but it might be a natural problem and just a coincidence that the increase in burned fossil fuels correlates with the "warming" of the planet.

And even if it's not a coincidence, what are we going to do about it anyway? Even if everyone in America "goes green", what about China? They've got a massive population that is just now getting ushered into their industrial age. When they're just now getting our old technologies, do you think they're going to instantly switch over to the greener, more expensive ones?

And say they do, what about all the third-world countries that will get sold the old, dirty technologies? They won't be able to afford the new, "green" technologies, and they're certainly not going to be educated to the hype of the whole "global warming" problem, so why should they care?

My point is, if indeed it is a problem, there's nothing that can be done about it, unless the entire world agrees to change at the same time. And what do you think the likelihood of that happening is?

Yes I'm really cold here in New York right now, but my brain isn't so frozen that I don't understand that no conclusions can be drawn about long term trends from two weeks of weather -- that's why I didn't say that global wamring was proved by Januaries tempuratures in the 50's, 60's and 70's in New York..

It's sad. Who knows what will come if we don't smarten up and make some changes. I live in Mn and remember when it was winter we'd get a foot or two of snow at a time. This year we barely got any. it's been cold enough though. Below zero lately.
