How about Earl Campbell in 1980? He rushed for over 1,900 yards, the second highest in history at the time, and carried the Houston team on his back.
Instead, in their wisdom, the MVP went to Cleveland QB Brian Sipe.
Campbell would have, and should have, been the first 3-time MVP winner (a record that went later to Brett Favre).

the biggest snub ever was not in the NFL, but in NCAA football

The 2002 Heisman winner should have been Larry Johnson, not Carson Palmer...i mean for god's sake he rushed for over 2000 yards and let PSU from unranked to a 9-3 record, I'm talking 3 bad calls away from NC game

I say Randy Moss 1998. When the Vikings went 15-1. The only reason they didn't win it all was Gary Anderson missed his only field goal all year in the NFC Championship game. The only reason the Vikes had that record is because the quarterbacks could just chuck it up and the Super Freak Randy Moss would get it!
