You just think a humidifier don`t work. Turn it on wide open, hang some wet bath towels around, put pans of water in front of every hot air duct. It may take a couple of days, but you will cure your problem.

I have the biggest one I can buy on my furnace, and 3 room ones, one holds 15 gal of water, belt type, the other two hold 8 gallon. I have to fill them every night.

At work I guess you will have to drag a chain, like the gasoline truck use to do.

I do not have a answer, but I have your problem. So I have read your answers. Thanks for asking, since I have not yet. At night when I move the covers, you can see it. It does not hurt or anything, just freaky. Try moving your covers before you get rid of all your static elecrity..

Get a bigger humidifier or get more small ones.
Get a bucket of water and put a fan just back of the top of the bucket. Have the fan blow across the top of the bucket. It will move the moist air evaporating from the bucket, out into the room. (Poor man's humidifier... $19 fan, $2 bucket, water)

Try dryer sheets in the vacum bag. Plus you'll have a good smell when you vacum. Boil some water on the stove all the time.

Have you thought of changing your carpets? Wool might be better as this is a natural material. Your static is due to you having too many (flip can't think of the word), but it's having unnatural fibres, ie polyester etc.

If you dont have a forced air furnace that you can plumb a humidifier into, than you are going to have to live with it.

house is too dry, you need a humidifier. if you can't afford one, put pots of water around where they won't be seen and knocked over.
