The way to properly destroy an old flag is to burn it.

You can give the flag to a local Boy Scout troop or American Legion post, and they will dispose of it for you. Call first to make sure that they offer this service.

There is no one particular way that flags can be burned. The flag code only talks about disposing of worn flags in a dignified manner, preferably by burning. The specific steps you take to burn your flag may vary.

If you'd like mroe guidance on how to dispose of a flag, visit the Flag Keepers website. You can also send them your flags to be retired if you don't want to do it yourself and can't find someone locally who will do it for you.

Call up your local VFW (maybe it is the Am Legion) organization. These guys specialize in this and will do so in the reverant manner that is needed. They should pick them up for free and do it for free, etc. Thanks goes out to you on being patriotic enough to look into disposing of these flags the proper way.

Boy Scouts or American Legion. Destroy them only if they are to tattered to fly, or stained so that they could be misread. That would kinda bite to fly Old Glory and have it mistaken for a, well it could be bad, that is why that is one of the rules.

There are several options, the best bet is to find the nearest VFW
Post and bring them in for them to dispose of. They can either do it themselves or they will know where to send them to be disposed of properly and patriotically.
Thank you for being a true American and not just throwing it away like it is a piece of trash.

You could send them to a middle eastern country. I imagine that they must be running a little short of them by now.
