She was basically being mean to you and the entire Jewish population when she said that. It is a common stereotype that Jewish people are 'cheap' or 'stingy'. Obviously that's not the case, but if you've ever heard the horrible prhase "J*w you down..." that is basically a slam to Jewish people. In ancient times people bartered and traded for goods and food. How it came to be "believed" that Jewish people were particularly good at talking someone down from their set price, I have no idea.
All in all, NOT a nice thing to say.
With friends like that, who needs enemies?!?!

That's a form of a racial slur. It stems from the myth that Jewish people are cheap and won't spend more than they have to. I would politely tell your friend that it's offensive to say that to you or to anyone else.

It's a racist thing to say.
Don't know how non-Jews every got the idea that Jews are "cheap". Chances are, they forced the Jews into it by keeping the impoverished in ghettos for thousands of years, then call them all sorts of nasty names.

Because the Jewish people are known for being misers. They say that they can't afford to even pay attention.

maybe he really DOES consider you to be his best friend, girl-wise? guys like to have a girl that's close but not in a relationship way, sometimes. or it could mean that he has feelings for you ... i know my ex still has feelings for me, only now that he has another gf, he just calls me his best friend, who's a girl. seeing as his actual best friend is a guy.
