My wife is in her 10th week and just started feeling sick yesterday, not morning sickness but coughing and now she has a sore throat. What is safe to take and effective?

Because every pregnancy is different and your wife may have a condition that prevents her from taking medication that is usually okay for pregnant women she should contact her physician. I wouldn't take advise from people on here, they don't have credentials or your wife's medical history.

Some women get morning sickness all the way through their pregnancy, some never get any at all, some start and stop like you. If it lasts longer than three days, see the doctor to rule out anything else. It's possible you could have some sort of flu this time. Take your temperature, and if you have a fever, call the doctor in the morning.

My doctor doesn't allow me to take anything, but some might, so check with your doctor. Other than that, I had two terrible colds while pregnant so far and what I did was I bought the Johnsons vapor bath for babies and even if it was only temporary it did bring me some relief. Besides doing that, baby her and make sure she gets a lot of rest. Also, be prepared for her illness to last a little longer than it normally would. Best of luck and I hope she is feeling better soon, because pregnant colds are the worst.

have your wife gargle with warm salt water for 3 to 5 minutes, then sip hot tea with honey and lemon. The gargling works as a local anestetic for the throat and curbs the cough reflex. The tea with honey helps to coat and soothe the throat.

Check with the Dr...I was told that I could only take Tylenol...for a cold...you just need to wait it out. The less things that you put into your body that can hurt the baby the better. Especially in the first three months.

She absolutely must check with her doctor. A quick call to the receptionist at the doctor's office should get you the answer.

The best answer here is to check with her Dr. as all pregnancies are different and what may NOT affect one will affect another.

I think only natural things, so as not to harm the fetus inside

of her. How about a weak tea with lemon and honey, and

for her to just rest.

dont let her take anything until you talk to her doctor first. not every woman can take the same stuff, she could have some kind of reaction. call the doc, tell them her symptoms and let them tell her what to take.
