Good question! Do remember that MOST IP addresses are dynamic and that means they will change. Do these steps, however:
Open a command prompt. To do this you can type "cmd" in the run box and hit enter.
When the black box comes up, type "ipconfig /all"
without the quotes, and hit enter. Your IP address, as well as subnet mask and default gateway will be displayed.

in XP
run "Command Prompt"
type :-
ipconfig
That will list you computers IP address, not necessarily the IP address through which you access the internet.
if the address is 192.168.x.y or 10.x.y.z ( where x,y & z are anything ) this is an internal IP address and not the address through which you access the internet.
If this is the case go to www.grc.com click on "Shield-Up!" scoll down click on "Shield Up!" again, click proceed, and this will show you your internet IP address at the bottom of the services box. You may find othe interesting things here as well.

I know this has already been answered with IPCONFIG and WHATISMYIP.COM
But I love http://www.ipchicken.com for some reason. The goofy chicken just kinda cracks me up.
Also there's a few things for your Google Home Page that will display your IP as well as trace IPs for you.

if you want to hide your ip number get a router for your computer. it will have it's own ip number inside it. besure to activate the firewall inside the router to keep hackers from invading your computer with a port scanner.
