Okay, I was on my way to math class, and I was coming back from gym. I went to my locker, and it was jammed. I kept trying to get it open, but it wouldn't open! So I went to math without any of my stuff to see if my math teacher would open it for me. (The teachers have keys to the lockers.) She said, "Your late." I said, "But my locker is jammed!" "I don't care. You should have dropped your stuff off here before you went to gym." First of all, if I did that, I would be late for gym because it is on the other side of the school! So I had to borrow a pencil and some paper from my friend. I mean, I didn't shove everything into my locker to make it jammed...it was just jammed. Was that fair of my math teacher to make me tardy even though it wasn't my fault, and then not letting me get my stuff out of my locker with the key?

I already know that life isn't fair and I know it won't change...but I am just asking your opinion.

Whether it was fair or not, I don't know. However, if you make a stink about it to your teacher, she will just think you are making excuses. I would just learn from this and try to prevent it from happening again. What's one tardy?

Yea, I Agree With Wat This Other Girl Said...They Can Say Or Do Watever They Want So It Wouldn't Matter If You Were Right Or Not. But "I" Think You Were Right, Because I Have The Same Exact Problem. I Have To Go In A Big Triangle....Kuz My Math Class Is On One Side Of The Campus, My Locker Is On Like The SIDE Of The Campus & THEN My Next Class (Science) Is On The Complete Opposite Side Of Where My Math Class Is. I Just Bring My Science Book To My Math Class Now So I Don't Have To Go To My Locker & I Just Put It Away After School. But, Yea...I Don't Think That Is Fair At All & Your Teacher Shouldn't Be Like That. He/She Should Understand That Situation. Is It Possible For You To Take Your Stuff With You To Gym Class? Like You Guyz Don't Have Lockers In Your Gym Where You Guyz Change?

sometimes life just isn't fair... and even when you have good intentions you are still wrong... but not "wrong"...
this is one of those cases... it wasn't your fault the locker was jammed but you were late...
The teachers point... although not stated in a way that you would listen... was ...
It really doesn't matter that it wasn't your fault you were late... the fact is you were late... and that is unnaceptable... next time why not try this...
... was it fair... I will not judge... were you late... YES...
take this analogy... a bit far fetched but think about it...
you get a call that you win 1 million dollars if you can get to the library by 2:00 and find the page in an encyclopedia with Abraham Lincoln's picture on it... so it is 1:00 ... you get in your car on the way there... and get a flat tire... you open the trunk and the spare is flat... so you call a taxi and the taxi never shows... 2:00 passes... should you get the million dollars anyways???
The only difference here is reward vs punishment... just think it over...
Also try thinking about it from the teacher's perspective... if he/she cut you a break then he/she would have to consider every excuse... it is just easier as a teacher to say... if you are late you are late... and you have to deal with the consequences... period...

Too many unknown variables to make a sweeping statement.
Maybe instead of continually trying to get it open, you could have tried once or twice and then headed to math class on time but without your books.
Since math had already started, you were late for class. The reason may be valid, but you were still late. The teacher isn't going to leave a classroom full of students - once class has begun to open a locker.
Be happy its Friday, no need to worry until Monday!

Your teacher is an ***. She was probably having a bad day or marraige problems or something like that. She could've been nice to you but she chose not to. Maybe if this was the second or third time that this had happened and you've given her that same excuse then she'd have a reason to mark you tardy. But not the first time around. Your teacher seems like someone I would dislike very much.

Teachers hear every excuse there is. And your locker being jammed was just another excuse...whether it was true or not. Maybe she didn't get the key to open it because she had class and was ready to start it.

I Don't Think It is fair, Was there a teacher or someone with you to prove a point. When Ever I had problems in Class or was ever late I would always have a War with my teacher afterschool and would fight about it. And I would win!! Hope things work out better for you.

No it wasnt but who said life was fair? Personally I think she didn't believe you. Hence the "I dont care" remark. If it really bothers you. You can take it up with the principal. But if your teacher gets a complaint from you, she may make your class time even worse. Maybe just let it go. Your call.

No it wasn't fair. She probably realized later how unfair it was. recognize that teachers are just people, they absolutely will make mistakes sometimes. Just think about a mistake you've that unfairly disadvantages some one and chalk it up to Karma.

Probably not. But, life isn't fair. So what? You are going to run into jerks for the rest of your life. You better learn just to blow it off and not let it bother you or else you are going to be one unhappy individual.
