a Home page has two meanings:
1) the start page of a website
2) the start page when you open your browser

A home page is the main page of any web site. Usually the first page that you see when you enter a site. When you see something that says, for example, make yahoo your homepage, this means that if you click on it, Yahoo.com will be the first thing that you see everytime that you connect to the internet.

When somebody types "www.herbert.com" that's actually a nickname for an "internet protocol" or "ip" address or so-to-speak phone-number of a computer that's holding herbert's files. Herbert's files include a file called "index.html" which is his "home page" and which is what somebody finds when they type "www.herbert.com". Computers everywhere agree on this. The index file, in turn, link to all of herbert's other files.

Homepage is like the first page your internet browser goes to when you open it. example: IE7 (internet explorere 7's) default homepage is www.msn.com. firefox's homepage is google.com.
a home page can be changed with just a couple clicks of the mouse going to your settings.
other then that YOUR homepage (if you have a web site/web page) would be what ever it is. mine for example is http://spartanelite.forumer.com and http://spartanelite.tk

a homepage is basically the main webpage that loads when you visit a site..like for example, you can build your own site and have sections like interests, biography, gallery..homepage will be the page you choose to display first when someone visits your site and the rest will be links.
