I can't believe I'm even answering this question.
Jordans "good numbers".....
2002: 22.9 ppg...5.7 rpg...5.2 apg...42% fg....79% ft
2003: 20 ppg....6.1 rpg.... 3.8 apg...45% fg... 82% ft
All this while leading the Wizards to a 37-45 record , and missing the playoffs in BOTH SEASONS!.
He wasn't even selected to play in the 2003 All Star Game. Both the fans (who select starters) and the coaches (who select reserves) didn't want him on the team. Vince Carter (the fans selection) was pressured by the media to remove himself from the starting lineup, so Jordan could play. This is just another example of the "Jordan hype" that people like jdwj76 and james w buy into.
And what did he do in that all-star game? 20 points on 9 of 27 shooting in a 155-145 loss. Yeah, real clutch.
What clutch shots could you POSSIBLY be talking about, considering that Washington was NEVER in contention while Jordan played there? Did he hit a game-winner against the "mighty" Memphis Grizzlies? LOL
Scottie Pippen was just busy leading Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls to 6 championships, thats all.

Good question, At the end of MJ's career he was not the scorer he was earlier in his career but his understanding of the game
and his competiteveness drove him to be more of an all around player so in a way his numbers at the end were similar to
Pippens when Pippen was in his prime.
I would give the edge to Jordan simply because even at 40 MJ
could go off for 40 and still hit game winners.

Jordan led the Wizards to two losing seasons in two years. There's no contest here.
Pippen's Bulls actually did quite well without Jordan, they won only two fewer games (55) in their first year without Jordan than they won in their championship season of 1993 (57 wins), before Jordan's first retirement.
Jordan never won anything without Pippen, in fact, he never had a winning season unless he had Pippen as a teammate. The Bulls had nothing but losing records with MJ prior to Pippen's arrival.
Meanwhile, Scottie was a two-time first team all NBA selection during the two years Jordan took off to try his hand at baseball.
There's no question that Pippen in his 20s and early 30s was far better than Jordan was at 40. It's not even close. How clutch can a guy be when his team doesn't even make the playoffs?

LOL, Hoopfan is correct... Jordan wasn't picked to the all star team in 2003 by the fans OR by the coaches. But Vince Carter was pressured into giving up the starting spot he earned to Jordan, since it was Jordan's last year in the league...here's the link:
http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Basketball/NBA/Toronto/2004/12/18/788808-sun.html
"Slam" magazine did an article on Carter's career with the Raptors, and here's what the article said:
" FEB. 9, 2003
AIR CANADA VS. AIR JORDAN: Carter is ripped throughout North America for refusing to give up his starting spot in the all-star game to Michael Jordan. Carter is the leading vote getter, but Jordan is the sentimental pick of many to start because this will be his final all-star appearance. Finally Carter surprises everyone by surrendering his spot minutes before the game. "He was very respectful," Jordan said of Carter. "
Jordan should have been embarrassed to get an All Star spot THAT way! Even when Vince offered him the spot, he should have said "Thanks, but no thanks, Vince, I don't deserve it, and I didn't earn it legitimately". But Jordan took it anyway, in SPITE of the established fact that the fans and coaches wanted Vince Carter, and not MJ, in the All Star Game. But with Michael, as always, he thought he was bigger than the game, and that everything's all about him.

I would say a youn Pippen. He was a excellent compliment to MJ's game. I think MJ at 40 would give him a run, but still think a Pippen in his prime would take him.

clearly a younger pippen was better than an older Jordan. the older jordan was simply an above average player, scoring just over 20 points per game. the younger pippen was an all arounud player, scoring over 22, while having 5 rebs and 5 assists..
