My friend is rapidly changing his image. He started with a new hairstyle, one that looks ridiculous, new clothes, and now he's trying to grow a fu-mancu! He's only 21 years old, but he's trying to look like he's thirty! I don't normally care about what guys wear, but this is ridiculous.
Should I tell him outright, try to mask it, or just drop it? I'm not going think differently of no matter what he wears, but frankly, it's kind of embarrassing.

Only tell him if he asks. Otherwise, just let him do his thing, even if you think he looks ridiculous. You say you won't think differently of him, so just let it go.

I have a friend somewhat like that. She's always changing her appearance and sometimes she looks downright stupid.
But, if you are a good friend, first off, you shouldn't even CARE what other people are thinking when they see you two together. You shouldn't be embarrassed if he is really a friend of yours.
Honestly, darlin, there is nothing you are going to be able to do to make him change his appeareance. Maybe you could give him an opinion, but telling him he looks stupid isn't going to change his mind on what he wants to wear.
Just try to ignore it; as hard as that sounds.
Don't be embarrassed with having him around though, because if you two have fun together, who cares if he's.. different?

Your friend is basically within his rights to dress as he pleases. Very less you can do about it. Most likely if you tell him that you don't like the way he dresses he'll give you the options to take it or leave it. He may feel comfortable with his new looks, while others aren't. It should not be bothersome for you, and I know you don't like his new looks, styles, but you would have to cope with it. Sometimes if you give him a tip of what would look great on him, he might get the message, quite better than if you just tell him upfront. Or he could care less. If you still want to hang out with him, just do.

Ask him why all the changes???? Give your honest opinion on the changes and let him be himself. If you're a real friend you'll hang with him anyway.

Who is to say that your tastes are better than his? Let him make mistakes; his kids will make fun of him enough when they look at his pictures years from now.
