My car has been lowered since 1997 and I'm riding on orginal struts. Past 5 years every now and then a squeaking noise would be heard from left front wheel area. It'd go away aftera few days and not appear for around 6 months or so. Recently the noise wouldnt go away and the mechanic said it was the bushings rubbing together and that I had to replace the upper control arm on that side, which i did. Noise went away for about a month and came back. The shop tightened everything in that same area and noise went away for a couple days and now it's back. The shop said the I need to replace thes struts b/c there's bushings in there that might be rubbing and making the noise. The noise sounds like someone jumping on an old spring mattress, only louder. Every tiny bump in the road causes it to make that noise. I already spent over $300 on replacing the upper control arm, but that's not even the problem. Any ideas so that I dont end up buying more uneccesary parts?

Oh and at the shop before replacing the upper control arm, they lubed it up and put wd40 in some areas and the first time they did it the noise went away for a few months, and then when it came back, they lubed it up again and noise came back after a couple days, and thats when they said I needed to replace the upper control arm. On other postings I noticed a few tips saying to lubricate the sway bar bushings. Do I have those on my car? And if I do, I would think the shop would have tried to lubricate those as well, but I'm not sure.

You could always try greasing all the spots to put grease in that area. I would say it is a very good possibility that it is the struts. I know that having a car lowered causes a lot of stress on the original struts, especially since it has been lowered since 97. I would give it a shot. It is worth a try. Squeaks and rattles are some of the hardest things to diagnose on vehicles. Good Luck.

If less than middle of automobile, should be the driveline significant different plate. they don't use U-joints, yet extremely a rubber plate. no matter if that is worn, it ought to squeal and shimmy. also the gas pump, regulator and clear out are less than in the back of the drivers seat. A hollow or failure ought to suck air and make a whistling, squealing noise. If less than hood, belt tensioner/strut assembly, potential steerage pump, water pump, electromagnetic snatch, secondary electric powered water pump. Even the fan blade.
