The company is very much still in operation, now under new ownership and slowly returning to profitability following the sale by the previous (mis-)managers. It will take a while until the company is back in the same position where it had a turnover of over £1bn in one year but they will get there. The company is no longer the number 1 furniture retailer in the UK, Argos are, but they're now at number 2; this means that to describe the company as "made for idiots" really says it all - we all buy their furniture so who are the idiots?! Anyway I've always preferred "my furniture's incomplete" - far cleverer!!

they are still trading as MFI but got sold off to a private equity firm at end of last year for £1.
Basically, they messed up their supply chain big time and it cost them their business.
