both are brilliant..its just that harry potter is a bit more original and there is a huge world hidden behind the books. lemony snicket is the story of three kids trying to survive..weird things do happen of course and its in general a very interesting series but jkr's inspiration is unique

I thought that Lemony Snicket was really Daniel Handler, not Daniel Harper! SHows what I know.

I guess that I like the whole Lemony Snicket thing and how he connects himself to his work, but I'd have to admit that I like Harry Potter better. You know, it makes more sense (yes, The End made sense, but it didn't explain everything! Which stunk...) and I like the characters better. Lemony Snicket is funnier, but I'd wait up till midnight for JK Rowling's books. Actually, I would for Snicket too, but if I had to choose, HP all the way. Oh, and Snicket's books got a bit boring near the end- book 11 was horrid! While Rowling knows where to stop and you can tell taht she's grown as a writer.

J.K. Rowling. The Lemony Snicket books are a tad boring. At first, they were a great read but now I'm glad they're done. The ramblings from the author are boring to read. 13 books about 3 kids who are chased by some lame brained money grubber? AND he gets away every time? BIG SNORE!!

At least when I read about Harry Potter, the storyline moves along at a great pace, I'm not confused or bored & love the whole story. I will be one of the first ones in line when Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows comes out.

A series of Unfortunate Events is okay, but Harry Potter is better in almost every single way.
