There is a mildew smell that comes from the drain in the kitchen and the slop sink down in the basement. What would cause that? It seems to fade at times like after running the water for a bit. But doesn't disappear completely. The faucets are used regularly so the trap isn't dry. Is there something I can pour down the drain to kill off the odor and the cause of it?

You might try using bleach to remove the odor.

However; the drain may not be the problem. You may even want to inspect under the sink and see if there are signs of mildew.

properly, I could say baking soda and pouring white vinegar over it so it bubbles. I guess you have a foul clog of something in there. have you ever tried to fill the sink with heat soapy water and in the previous all of it drains out plunging it with a plunger. in case you have double sinks, block the different drain. there is likewise a white plastic strip with barbs on it which you may purchase very almost everywhere the place they have plumbing factors. You stick this plastic strip into the drain, and push and pull, and push and pull and notice what you relax. you additionally can attempt a bucket with a pair of million/4 cub of bleach and a few laundry cleansing soap extra to it to place throughout the time of the drain--use one bucket for each sink. do this as quickly as a week. you additionally can use the water in the previous hand to replaced into your counters, tables, sinks, and so on. good luck.

DRAINO?

never pour that down a pipe! no matter what the bottle says, that stuff wrecks havoc on pipes!

the pros told me to regularly pour 1 gallon of bleach (any brand) down all my pipes. let it sit for at least an hour, then run plenty of HOT water through. i do this about every 3 months.

bleach will eat up anything in the pipes faster than anything else.

when you get that done, throw some cut up lemons into your kitchen sink and run the disposal.

draino.
what kind of mop do you use? if its a string mop, those get hung up and cause a stench.
I pour bleach water down mine periodically. I was told that pouring coca cola down the drain once a week will help. The acid in the coke eats up the stuff in the pipe.

your house/apartment does not have proper venting. the smell is coming from backup in the drainage system. it could also be coming from something in the drain try a drain foaming/cleanser if that does not work call a plumber
