i have an ex fiance that i am kind of not over yet i dnt think,we recently got back in touch through myspace, were not talking on the phone just little messages. but anyway, these last 2 1/2 yrs i have thought about everything we went through in our yrs together and i just want him to know that i understand now, not that i want him back cause he has a girl..just that, i am sorry 4 those things and i understand the reasons and the problems i caused and the things i was doing.

Don't lie to yourself. You do want him back. You have been chatting and whatever it is that sparked your attraction for him years ago has ignited it again. Nothing wrong with that, that is normal. Just keep it real.
And, let it go. You don't need to explain anything to him, you want to explain it to him because you don't want him to think of you the way you think he does. You want him to look at you and think of you as he did when he still loved you. He has a girl, that raises the competitive nature in you, he was yours first, and there is something inside you that makes you want to show her that you will always have a place in his heart. You want her to know about you.
It's all about you, there isn't a shred of decency in what you want to do, and hiding your motives in an apology is just plain childish.
If your heart is pure then finally understanding will be enough for you, you won't feel any need to communicate with him and further, you will do all you can to keep out of his life so that he can enjoy his.
If you are lying, as I suspect, even to yourself, you will contact him and it will be out of selfishness. You can't undo the past,you can only learn from it.

if the relationship is over with, and he is with someone else, what is your goal here? what do u hope to accomplish by him knowing this? it usually is never one in the relationship that caused all the trouble, so why take all the blame here. sometimes it is just too late to undo things, and may be painful for u to talk to him. some things are better left unsaid. if he should call u it would be fine to talk to him about the past, but as long as he is with someone else don't think it is a very wise idea.

There is no easy way to tell him. Just get it out of your system and get some closer. But you need to ask yourself if you want closer or another opening with the two of you. Remember, trust and communication are two of the most important things in a relationship. I hope all works out for you. Good luck. Matters of the heart especially broken heart is never an easy one to deal with.

You dont know what you got till its gone. But now that it's gone he is with someone new, your going to have to deal with it, because if it's love he will find a way to surpass the negative things you guys had in your past relationship and he will come back to you. But for now you will have to face it, then everything might fall into place.

you tell him by leaving him alone and letting him get on with his life. you tell him by understanding that the best thing you can do for him to make it right is to leave him alone and not cuase him any more greif and complications.
