Most of the banks everywhere use the Chexsystem unfortunately, just keep trying banks. From their website -

Why did you tell the bank not to open an account for me?

ChexSystemsSM neither approves nor declines accounts for banks and credit unions. The decision is entirely up to them.

I had the same problem. Finally, I spoke to Bank of America about it, and a very nice lady there in collections essentially "made it go away." I now have a checking account. Chexx Systems, and the banks that use it, have been indicted (or at least threatened) to stop using this system, as it unfairly hamstrings otherwise good people who should be able to have an account.
If you try to go through Chexx Systems themselves, you'll get nowhere. If you go to the bank, and speak with the manager (which I also did) they are authorized to help you.
