Someone's answer to a question says that Muslims are used as an "escaped goat", and I was curious as to what this phrase means.

Um, yeah, I know what a "scapegoat" is, but the person most definitely wrote "escaped goat". Thought maybe the whole key to peace in the Middle East was in finding this "escaped goat".

Well it dates back to the Turks in the Ottoman Empire. When shepherds were lonely they would tie up a goat in their tent. But sometimes it would escape. Thus "escape goat" meaning one who runs away from misfortune.

Alternate answer: W T F?? It's not "escape goat" you moron! It's scapegoat!!!

i am not sure what an escaped goat is, but a "scape" goat is someone that you can blame for something, such as if you were to eat all the cookies and then you got someone else in trouble for that then they would be your scapegoat.

LOL,

I believe the correct term is "scapegoat" , not "escaped goat"

Basically the term is used to describe someone who is easily blamed for something.

You mean scapegoat. A scapegoat is a person everybody blames even though he or she had little or nothing to do with the actual incident.

They're saying "Scape goat." It's means that they're the ones being blamed for everything, whether or not they're responsible.
