1. '98 Vikings
2. '04 Pittsburgh Steelers
3. '06 San Diego Chargers
4. '06 New Orleans Saints
5. '05 Indianapolis colts
The '98 Vikings will go down as the best all-time team to not make it to the super bowl, because that was their year. They broke a lot of records that year, team records, and individuall records. I was so devistated after they lost in overtime to the Falcons, which they could have one if K Gary Anderson would not of missed that FG (first one he missed all year). The Steelers were almost as good, but you got to know that Rothlisberger was a rookie, their for no playoff experience, that is why they didn't go to the superbowl, and same with the chargers, Philip Rivers had no previous playoff experience.
The Colts should of went to the superbowl in '05 and you got to consider that the game they lost to the Steelers was the clostest game the steelers had in the post season.
I put the Saints on this list because they would of reached the superbowl if injurys didn't effect them, and the only reason they lost to the bears was because the saints offencive line slacked off, and blew way to many assignments. The saints O-line was good all year, until that game.

The 1990 49ers are THE best non super bowl team ever.
The 1998 Vikings are a distant second.
1996 Broncos 3rd.
I've run out of the rest, but didnt the Cowboys have some awesome teams in the 1970s that didnt make it, and same for the Raiders getting beat by the Steelers.

Seems a bit of a time gap in your list as no mention prior to 1990.
How about the 1984 Broncos (13-3)...or any of those Houston Oilers teams of the 70s that kept being beaten by the Steelers.
