Religion like politics is a sales pitch to those who are interested .We have republicans ,democrats, independents ,green party ,communist party, Nazi party ,socialist and many others . So does religion ,Christians ,broken down to dozens of faiths that differ on a theme that Jesus died for our sins so we can go to heaven ,Islam with two major sects ,Hinduism and its sects ,primal indigenous ,buddaism , judaism, and sikhism .
This is all part of how one individual or group maintains its domineering ways over others who willingly join or are affected as a result of large numbers following a set of delusional values and concepts . It is hard for people who are not delusional to get along in society .Mass hysteria and idealism that is unyielding to any intelligent thought is overwhelming in some cases .We have people who believe strapping a bomb to themselves will land them in heaven with 72 virgins . Now rational people know this to be incorrect but the delusional say that we know the only way to heaven is by accepting jesus as your savior .
So with most of the world off in some state of deluded behavior and practice it is hard for the sane individual to appear sane among them .
I of course am considered to be nuts for this belief and it is just fine with me . I get a real hoot out of people who are really nuts calling me nuts .
Have a great life, it is all you get . Eat , drink ,make love as often as possible with whoever you want and do not apologize for it . You are who you are . I have never tried sex with a man but have considered it .After being with dozens of women how different could it be with a man . Some women have used small toys to my surprise that I found exciting . I shutter to think what would happen if I tried a guy . In the dark we are just swapping spit and some fluid anyhow . We use to eat lots of bugs at one time bitter berry's and nuts ,snails and frogs .So is our sexual diet also environmental . I wonder . Anyhow just food for thought as we go around bashing what others enjoy passing laws and trying to make all people act alike .
Your mission in life is to accept jesus as your savior and go to work for 45 years never belly aching or complaining . Then retire and drop dead in a few years . Enjoy this kind of life if you want . I preffer smoking some weed ,drinking ,making love to young stoned women half my age and enjoying this life for all it is worth . I work to party . If I dropped dead tomorrow the houses ,cars ,boat and everything I own goes back to the bank and a thrift shop where people buy dead peoples clothes .

*"We have Christians. And they do not always agree with each other on certain tenets of faith"* But they're suppose to! That's the general idea. That's why they argue amongst themselves because they are ALL suppose to follow every word in that indoctrination bible to the letter. If they don't then they are not really (in the sense of the word), a real *Christian*. That's the part that you left out. And the majority of the people in this country *think* it to be a *"Christian nation"*, that is why they base EVERYTHING including politics especially on *Christianity*. Islam and the Mormon religion, Scientology and other *different* religions other than Christianity are generally frowned upon by the masses in this country STILL. Even though there are so many different religions here today living side by side. It's still a very bias country regarding religion and other things. I don't see that ever changing overall.

Since the democrats and the aclu have done everything possible to discredit and eliminate any vestage of religion from government or political discourse, the reaction from those of faith is understandable. the constitution says the government cannot endorse any specific religion. It does not say that candidates with a religious preference should not be considered for public office. The left pursues this strategy at their own peril. Nearly every part of the republican domestic platform has been implemented with varying degrees of success. If not for the Iraqi conflict, libs would have to tie a pork chop around their dogs necks so somebody would talk to them.

I can't think of one law on the books today that favors one religion over another. Are you suggesting that only those who have no religious belifes are fit to hold office? Hypocrites either religious or secular are abundent in both parties. The fact that a majority of Americans prefer christian leadership is a matter of choice and not a requirement

Not sure what you mean by "clear separation of Religion and State" because the documents that formed our country had nothing in them to back that up. This country was forged by Christians and set up using Christian principles.

I think mostly because politicians refuse to actually TALK about the issues..they give us cheap slogans, and pre-tested sound bytes....leaving religion as the only thing to really argue about in a candidate and the weird crazy notion that if a Jew is elected then all the sudden pork will be outlawed, etc.

Why shouldn't it?
Who are you to dictate the belief structures of others?
It's Freedom OF Religion, by the way. Not Freedom FROM Religion.

I've never had to specify my religion on any job application that I have ever filled out.
Religion is not a basis for determining ability to perform work.

It's because the fundie vote has forced the Refugs to parrot their nonsense, otherwise they don't have the votes to win elections.
