Are you kidding me? Did you really need to ask a question like that? If so you need to check your moral compass. Thats why the world is where it is today. Peace out.................

I have often thought about the effects of hip-hop/rap music on our society. I want to write an essay on the subject and have only random thoughts in my manuscripts, they are at this time incomprehensible but, I will share them with you.

The role of the artist
The authentic artist is one who gives birth to a new reality. He expresses what it means to be and enlarges human perception and awareness. Such artists are healthy self-actualizers. Talent may be inborn, but whether or not the individual makes use of it is his choice. Creativity isn't in the person; it is in the act. However, the means used to communicate the creation is secondary.
The creative process is an encounter with an idea or inner vision. While psychologically related to the fight or flight syndrome, the creative process causes the artist to feel joy or a heightened consciousness that accompanies the fulfillment of potential. The quality of the encounter can be measured by its intensity and the degree of absorption the creator feels.
Rolo May The Courage To Create

Has free enterprise smothered the creative process of the urban musical artist?
Responsibility to show the people their hidden selves.
Creative lyric, artistic freedom.
Breaking the rules by incorporating vulgarity, and slang.
Music for profit vs. true creativity.
Minimal effort
The use of technologies
A complete turn around from what was once expected from an artist.

The role of the artist has changed considerably over the past century, due both to the emergence of a mass culture industry, and to what might be called the effervescence of technology.

Does the artist accept certain basic standards of representation that are traditional? If so, what is this tradition, how did it evolve, what changes has it undergone, and how does it derive its justification?

There is an edited version called I wanna love you. There is alot of things other than just hip hop that is wrong for younger kids to hear or see, BUT that is where the parents should step in. I remember all kinds of nasty songs when I was little. I am 23 now, so things haven't changed much.

: )

What parent in their right mind would buy an Akon cd for their child. It is not the industry's fault. Parents do not have to buy those cds and they do not have to let their kids listen to the r&b hip hop stations on the radio either. They also dont have to let them watch VH1 or MTV. Besides the only version that is aired here is I wanna luv you. I dont even know any parents that let their kids under 15 listen to that kind of music. They make a ton of different kiddy cds.

I think the edit version is not that bad "I wanna love you". Being a parent of a 4 and 1 year old you have to monitor the music that you kids listen too. DUH. And don't just say hip hop cause there are pop and rock songs that my kids will never hear mommy playing too. Just like you don't let them watch Jerry Springer don't let them listen to music that is not suitable.

What's the difference between that song and "I'll Make Love To You" (the song from the 90's, I think by Boys2Men). Other than a curse word.

Yeah its horrible for kids. The video is even worse. They play this song on bet, MTV all of the young kids watch on tv. And they get influenced by it. They show how the rap world treat women and its disgusting. But not all rap is crap. Just gotta find the right ones.

that's why the radio stations and t.v. play the edited version " I wanna Love You" and if your worried about kids being corrupted; society can do that with out the help of hip-hop

lol That's why there is a 'safe' version called, "I Wanna Love You" by Akon. The explicit verson can't be heard on the radio, unless those kds got them off the stores or on-line.
