I attended the 2004 games in Athens, buying all of my tix over a year in advance. Upon getting there, there were many tix still available, so for events that we particularly enjoyed(beach volleyball) we bought more tickets and had better seats than the one's we'd bought over a year ago!! I don't want that to happen again! Any tips on accommodations would be great too!!! We stayed in an apartment for two weeks in Athens, wouldn't mind doing the same thing again for the right price:)

Tickets to the medal ceremonies and big events like swimming, gymnastics, and mens basketball will probably be sold out. I think tickets to events in which China is expected to do very well in will be gone. You can probably buy tickets to the smaller events when you get there. Opening or Closing ceremonies will be sold out. If you have you tickets before you leave you will not be disappointed you will not have to run around to get tickets to the events you want to see. You can spend your time enjoying the Olympics.

I wish you the best of luck. I'm planning to go there myself, but for the Paralympics. You will definitely not be safe buying tickets last minute. Just think of the fact that there's more than a billion mainland Chinese:you can't even count on the lack of interest for certain sports YOU might be interested in. They have a lot of people vyieng for tickets for whatever sport: just as you can count on finding at least 100 Chinese who speak a certain language whatevever that language is. Your best bet is to contact a travel agency NOW! Also, book your flight with a year's advance: it will be far cheaper.

I agree with Chanteuse. Don't travel that far without having ALL of your arrangements made in advance. Also, I travel all over the globe and the best help I have gotten is through TripAdvisor. It gives feedback from people who have actually stayed at these hotels, etc. And one time I was in Ireland and my travel agent had picked a hotel that had turned out to be a nightmare, and the one I had originally wanted and found on TripAdvisor was gorgeous in comparison. Now both I and my travel agent use TripAdvisor when we look for hotels for my trips.

Umm, helllloooo, why ought to you be the single to flow out and promote them? in spite of everything, it really is amazingly obtrusive that your handicapped youngster led to all the hassle for you right here. If the youngster had activated the wheelchair's brakes even as you've been lengthy gone to shop himself from rolling downhill and faraway from the line for some hundred yards even as he became meant to be waiting in line(pfffft, "damaged brakes", "paralysis"... yeah, acceptable! that youngster became in basic terms LAZY!) - which ultimately were given him into teh information because of all the chaos he led to - the spouse does not comprehend and also you does not be in this damned situation!! the youngster ought to a minimum of have the decency to make an apology now and to do the artwork and promote them for you! Tsk, tsk.

I think it is better to buy tickets in advance, because not only the people from China will attend the game, but also the people from Hong Kong.
You don't want the "what if .... sold out" on your mind.

I think there will be plenty of tickets at the time of the games its not like Sydney where all the Aussies went to the games the Chinese ordinary people will not be able to afford tix.
I would be looking for accomodations now as they are running out of Chicken Coups already

If you're going to travel that far a distance, it's never a good idea to leave that sort of thing open to chance if there are specific events you want to attend.

However, if you're open to going to any event, there will always be tickets available to less popular events.

Well considering there is a population of over a billion people there... plus all the out of towners.... Hmmm! I would get them in advance! Especially if you want to watch the popular events!
