for used books, I like half.com and bestbookbuys.com. Bestbookbuys compiles inventory and prices from oodles of independent booksellers, so the "inventory" is huge. abebooks.com is good, too.

It's common but amazon.com is where I buy most of my books. They usually have really good discounts, buy three get one free deals and free shipping. I can also find books there that I cannot get at the Borders and Barnes and Noble stores.

www.abebooks.com is the best for price! Many, many books for $1 plus shipping. This is a huge group of competing small bookstores under on web site...

I go with Amazon. They have come up with stuff I never thought I would find. Usually pretty cheap too.

Several are good, but my faves are powells.com[they are a used book store with a huge range in prices] and amazon.com[they have loads at good prices]

I like alibris.com it has all kinds of hard to find books and many sellers.
