It is very common. A Clown is basic deception. The person in the clown suit is not what the clown represents.
This deception is understood abstractly as an actor, the clown is an actor playing a role. But to a young mind it may be viewed as "what the light shines on," which is someone pretending to be something they are not.

Not me but a very close friend was afraid of clowns. He dealed with it when he dressed up as a clown (make up and the whole thing) since then he is not afraid.

me i'm petrified i as quickly as went to a a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous's b-day social gathering and there replaced right into a clown and this different little lady replaced into scared too so i babysat her frolicked far removed from the clown
