I saw this story online. Why would anyone protest this? I understand that Israel has done their fair share to oppress the Palestinians, but incidents like these causes me to lose all empathy.

Some muslims are their own worst enemies. If you must draw attention, do so positively. You know, I can't help but wonder why muslims can't just give the Palestinians some of their own land they're not using. That would do wonders with the image of the muslims.

That is an excellent question. I agree that the Palestinians are their own worst enemy. If it is true that in the general Muslim population, only 5 percent are radicals/terrorists then those percentages must be inverted in the Palestinian population (i.e. 95 percent terrorists and 5 percent normal). How else can you explain the fact that an overwhelming percentage of the general population actually supports terrorists attacks on innocent Israelis? Of course, when a Palestinian gets killed they cry and carry on as if its the most wicked and depraved thing has ever happened to them.

They are unbelievably short-sighted; just look at the election of Hamas. Then they are shocked when the U.S. and the E.U. cut off funding to what is a known terrorist organization. Their ability to predict the consequences for their own behavior make Saddam Hussein look like a “prophet” by comparison. Even Osama Bin Laden looks like a relative genius-an evil genius, albeit.

You’d think, if the Palestinians had half a brain, that they would at least ‘pretend’ to want peace with Israel in order to get International sympathy (and maybe even their own state). As it is, the International community is wildly anti-Semitic and would love to take the side of anybody against Israel. But, even the other radical Arab countries have a hard time supporting the Palestinians because of their outspoken support of terrorist tactics against Israel civilians.

Even Arafat pretended to moderate his extremism in order to extract billions of E.U. and U.S. dollars. Most of this money was never accounted for and presumably went into his private slush fund rather than to the aid the desperately poor Palestinian people. Arafat’s performance was good enough to win him a “Nobel Peace prize” but, when the Israelis came up with conclusive proof that Arafat was illegally bringing weapons into the Palestinian territories, president Bush refused to ever meet with Arafat for the rest of his life. Even so, Arafat is still considered to be the greatest Palestinian “hero” ever to live, according to his people.

This ‘tempest in a teapot’ that the Palestinians are propagating now on the sacred “Temple Mount” is similar to the Palestinian “Intifada” back in 2000 that led to the pointless deaths of many thousands of Palestinians and Israelis.

“Those who fail to learn the lesson from history are doomed to repeat it.”

Extremism has always hindered causes, however good the cause may be. It fuels fears of the group as a whole. And in the case of the Palestinians it is easy to understand. Jordan is not keen on them and doesn't want them as neighbors. Why? Well, would you want a fanatic living next door to you who is always ready to start shooting? It doesn't matter how many decent Palestinians there are, the extremists are the ones who get on the front page and tarnish the cause of those who are deserving.

Of course it does. As does Israeli extremism, like leveling neighborhoods and opening fire on civilians. Or, displacing the Palestinians from their homeland in the first place.
