Most historians know that Colonel Paul Tibbets piloted the Enola Gay( named after his mother) that dropped the first Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima but the man who commanded the plane that dropped the second Atom bomb on Nagasaki has eluded fame. I'm trying to find his name and the name of his plane.

The plane was called "Bockscar", flown by commander Major Charles W. Sweeney. The name of the bomb was "Fat Man"

Good Q! I don't know--but I did get to drive through Hiroshima in the mid '50's--BUT was too full of guilt then to drive through the drop zone!! Wish I'd had the courage to do so! I lived on the Island of Kyushu in Fukuoka, for a year, travelled around, but there, too, did not choose to go to Nagasaki!! One more regret in life!!

I don't know the pilot, but the plane was called the Enola Gay. Google that name and see what you come up with.

It was the same pilot in the same plane...the bombings were conducted several days apart.
