Only problem with Finland are the dark winter months.

We love animals here in the USA, only we tend to love to eat them.

Finland is absolutely beautiful. I have been there 3 times in the last year, and I am marrying someone from Finland. As far as statistics, Finland is the most forested European Country, Finland comes in at #1 in several technology categories, and it has the best education in the WORLD. Also, I live in RI and the weather around Helsinki is about the same as maybe here, or New Hampshire.....because of the Baltic Sea. And although they have less light in the winter, they have alot more in the summer!!!

I live in Finland and in NYC so this is just my opinion about Finland in general.

+ Very advanced utilizing new technology for everyday living/needs
+ Clean, relatively safe
+ Friendly people (they like Americans)
+ Standard of living is "ok"
+ Good healthcare mechanism

But:
- It is not so competitive as some surveys show. Finland is lacking international investments more and more. Those surveys really do not tell the truth imho
- Many companies are relocating their HQ outside of Finland (same thing in Sweden also) due taxing / union policies.
- Salaries are quite low + high income tax + rather expensive cost of living (food etc) = net consumable cash is (very) low among typical well educated Finnish people

If you value pieceful, safe, real average life with reasonable income with no real chance to get wealthy (or rich): Finland is great.

If you value the possibility to benefit (financially) from long hours of work or higher position: Finland may not be your #1 choice.

Hope this gives you some thoughts :)
