It's always difficult (in fact impossible) to make reliable predictions based on winter testing. This is because everyone is doing different things at the same time. They all have different fuel loads, different aero set ups, different tyres, different drivers (some are novices), different programmes (endurance runs vs bursts of short runs). The top times that you see at the end of the day may give you an idea, but it could be terribly misleading. Some teams (make that all teams) will deliberately manipulate their lap times to confuse other teams/lull them into a false sense of security.
Having said all that, the usual suspects are doing the usual things, McLaren, Ferrari, and Renault have been quick. They are all having little niggling reliability issues which are expected (that's why they test). BMW Sauber apparently has been quick and consistently so, and Massa thinks that the Munich/Hinwil squad is currently the top runner!
My predictions are no better than mere speculations but it seems McLaren and Ferrari will be fighting for the champagne in Melbourne. But you knew that.

Well, from what we saw, it appears that McLaren has taken a massive step forward in the winter. Ferrari's car is pretty fast, but so far it has encountered countless reliability problems (lately, the car wasn't even able to complete a full race distance). BMW is also in the Running, Renault as well (the poor times that have been recorded lately are signs of a gloves-on approach, because the car is actually fast). My money is on a 3-way battle between McLaren, Renault and BMW. Who's going to win out of those three, we'll have to wait until October to know for sure.

From the testing so far it shows that currently the McLaren MP4-22 is the quickest. i think this will stay with the first few races. the Ferrari is quite quick but Raikkonen seems to already be destroying it,he is the quickest driver but it seems he is the one that puts most pressure on cars and as shown with McLaren over the years they do break down with the harsh treatment. i believe so far McLaren seems to have the best car i think Alonso has an advantage which he wants to illustrate to the other drivers. McLaren constructors with close company of Ferrari then it will be close between Renault,Williams and BMW. Alonso seems to have adapted better to McLaren that Raikkonen to Ferrari so it will take him longer to adapt which will allow Alonso to build up a lead as he has done over the last two championships

Testing is exactly that testing. Testing the tires, the suspension, the fuel load variants, and a few dozen other specs along with a few hundred combinations of them. And like you said mind games.
McLaren is fast in testing, yea, they almost always are fast in testing.
The only thing I'm pretty confident in for 2007 is Renault's total fall from grace, but not because of the car.

Im picking Alonso to be the champion again and the McLaren to be the construction champion, but very very close with the Ferarri. Far third will be the Renault.
