I have a old two wire system in my house. I want to ground the whole house eventually. It's not really that big of a house only about 1,000 square feet. The outlet i want to ground is about 20 to 30 feet away from the breaker box and cold water pipe. I would like to know about how much it would cost to have someone come by and properly ground the outlet.

You need to run a whole new circuit you can't add a grounding wire to a circuit that does not have a grounding wire.
But should cost about 2 hrs labor( $60 per hour where i live) and 25 bucks material. I say 2 hours because most electrician will charge some for travel. Get 3 estimates and chose the guy in the middle. The highest guy is probably ripping you off and lowest is probably cutting corners. If all 3 price are close pick the guy you like.

Depending on where you live, it'll cost you between $75 and $150 just to have the electrician come.

At that point, given the distance you mentioned, it shouldn't be much more to do the single outlet grounding. It'll cost you a few dollars to a 3-prong outlet. Some electricians overcharge for this (they can be purchased at the Home Depot for about $5).

Grounding the whole house, even though it's small, will likely end up being about $500, I'd say. Give or take.

Call several electricians and ask for an estimate.
