I have done some research and have found out that to lighten skin colour you use hydroquinone(2% legal amount in Canada). Are there any good and safe products that I can buy in stores (that are available in Canada). What is the product and what is the store? I recently went to Fort Lauderdale in Florida and in the beauty isle(in the grocery stores) there was an area for ethnic beauty and they had many skin lightening products. When I check the stores in Canada (I move back and forth between Ottawa and Toronto) most stores did not have such and isle with skin bleaching products. I was very upset. If you know anything please reply.

I have used hydroquinone 2% as part of the Obagi skin care regimen and I swear by it, it's the best! It erased all my freckles and whatever sundamage I had on my face and I was so happy! I didn't have to use foundation anymore, my skin tone was fair and even.

This is prescribed by a doctor and is not available over-the-counter. Please go see a reputable dermatologist in your area and tell him/her to explain the benefits of hydroquinone 2%. It really depends on your sprcific problem, he/she may prescribe something else that will work better for you.

Hope that helps, good luck!

I would recommend not using it! I went to a dermatologist and they gave me a product containing hydroquinone to get rid of sun spots and freckles on my face. It had a familiar smell and I could actually kind of taste it in the back of my throat when I put it on my face. I researched it and Hydroquinone is a chemical used in xray processing! I work at a health care facility that has xray equipment - that is why I recognized the smell!

The other fact is that it did fade my freckles and sun spots but if you don't continue to use it they will come right back! Even in small doses it has been known to effect your organs in processing it out of our system. NOT WORTH THE RISK.

I have tried Kojoic Acid which is natural so you may want to look into that.
