I have a Kirby Heritage vaccum cleaner I bought in 1986. It cost me$1200.00. I need a tune up. Is it worth the $130.00 the Kirby place wants to tune it up?..or buy a new one?

I sent my Kirby in for the tune up . . . It came back looking like new. They even polished it. I did fail to send in any attachments that were damaged and I should have. I paid $1200 for mine too. I say it's well worth it.

wow i think you need to shop around at different vacuum stores. you don't have to go to a Kirby store. i had mine tuned up: new belt, new spinning thing in the bottom, new cord hangers, new light, and a thorough cleaning for only $48. this was from a vacuum dealer he didn't specialize in any specific brand or model

If you are happy with the Kirby, it is worth it. They are really good vacs. New ones are around $1500 I think. If you are not really satisfied with it, look into Rainbow vaccuums.

Tune up=BS

Buy your own belt and filter bag for less than $5 at walmart for that thing and put them in yourself.
