Me think that the answer to your question is:

Nobody except the Mexicans.

I watched the whole game the other night, which was a good US effort. The crux of the matter is that the US defense was better than the Mexican offense, hands down. Conrad and Bocanegra had VG games. Mexico did not finish well and had a few good chances - but Howard had no real outstanding, necessary saves, and wasn't really tested in my opinion.

Conrad's goal was legit off the corner - poor defending; he didn't need to jump at far post! Landon's goal was a bit of luck as the referee was in the way. Nevertheless, Donovan, who I agree is overrated, finished well and beat 2 defenders and a weak goalie. I agree with announcers that he should be fined and investigated by FIFA for his actions. Hugo Sanchez should get sacked if he starts losing! The mexican sportsmanship for a "friendly" was disappointing and typical of SA and caribbean nations who play and lose with a clean sheet vs the US

I feel that US has Mexico's number in CONCACAF and most games over the last few years, and US was a superior team the other night, and luck had little to do with it. Like most sports, the US atheletes will eventually excel and make progress in the world arena, and the quality play in the MLS will help in youth and post collegiate development for our next WC 2008!

Es mas, yo creo que mexico tuvo suerte que EEUU no le metio mas goles!
Actually,I am almost sure everybody agrrees with me, Mexico was "lucky" that The US National team didn't play at full throttle!
I thought the game would be US=4 Mexico=0.
Let's face it, Mexico always suffer defeats against the US national team, the only time the mexican team "sometimes" win
is El Azteca stadium. Alos mexicanos no les gusta perder con honor!Mexican do not like loose with honor. What a shame!

Let's see....

Goals:
U.S.A: 2 (Conrad's header from a defensive error and Donovans 1 on 1 after another defensive error)
Mexico: 0 (from having the two oldest players start up front)

Shots on goal:
Mexico: 9
U.S.A.: 5

Possesion:
Mexico: 60%
U.S.A. 40%

Yeah I think they got lucky. But kudos to US for knowing how to take advantage of all their opportunities. After all they did get 2 out of 5 in. That's more than I can say for Mexico 0 out of 9.

The US did not get lucky against Mexico... Mexico's players were dominated by height and speed of the US players... Hugo Sanchez is all hype... Remember this, the US is taking this win as a game won... If it were Mexico, Mexico would still be talking ****... Solo es un juego, tomalo como hombre...

No, the US had a better defense than Mexico but Mexico had a better offense, go figure. But I wish the Mexican team wouldn't have just ran away from the stadium and should have shaken hands and exchange shirts with the American team, how rude.

well ya its always like that in football you can play really good and dominate but in the end if the other team takes advantage and scores its not that it was lucky usa knew how to take advantage, i have had the opportunity to play with both sides in the youth program and believe me usa takes these games more seriously then mexico does and it always happens like that mexico can dominate but usa knows how to take advantage of one mistake and then thats the way it goes, mexico tried to hard to score in the past and they got countered on the second goal it was a walk in goal not luck. but i feel that both teams played really well and have bright futures in the concacaf well just have to wait and see in 2010

How can you be so sore about losing a game where 99.9% of the American public cares nothing about. If they got lucky, they did it in front of a pro-mexican crowd in a sport that is not traditionally American, with little or no support from American fans.

I think that's what the Mexicans would have you believe, but I also think that the Mexican team acted like poor sports--refusing to shake the Americans' hands at the end of the game.
