Sharp, painful cramping that may last a few seconds at a time. Sometimes people have towards the end of pregnancy the small contractions that just feel like little cramps but when you start having real contractions, you will know. They may make you want to hold your breath they can be so painful but everyone is different.

I think at first it just feels like a tightening sensation across your whole belly. Then as it gets further along, the tightening sensation continues, but you also get a cramping feeling from the inside too. Then added to that you will get pressure. One pain doesn't stop, it just gets added to. The thing to keep remembering is that the closer and closer the contractions get to each other, the closer you are to them all being over!
