I doubt it has anything to do with the modem.

The first port of call I'd suggest to find out what's wrong is to do an online system optimisation scan at PC Pitstop to see if that flags up any problems....... to go straight to it, go here> http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/

The course of action I'd suggest is if you're still using Internet Explorer, ditch it and start using Mozilla Firefox instead.... free, and available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Finally, some proper basic protection for the computer (something everyone should have)........ these ones can be blagged for free..........

Anti-VIR PersonalEdition Classic (Anti-Virus software)
http://www.free-av.com

SPYBOT: Search & Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org
(make sure to also install the "TeaTimer" option when installing for extra protection)

ZoneAlarm Firewall (Free edition)
http://www.zonelabs.com

Also, make sure you've been doing regular hard drive maintenance (Scandisk / disk checker + Defragmenter)

As a last resort, I suggest using "Tune-Up Utilities 2007"........ which is fortuntely available on a 30day free trial, which is usually long enough for it to fix any & all problems with your computer.
You'll find it here: http://www.tune-up.com

You probably have a "cookie blocker" that is acive and prevents the site from downloading. Many sites require "tracking cookies" to operate and will literally "stall out" if they tracking cookies are blocked. Remember, that is how these sites make money bey selling stuff.

Go to Tools, Internet Options, Privacy. That slider on there might have to be set lower to allow downloads of those sites. I found my computer stalls when I set that thing at MedHigh, I thus reset it to Medium.

The browser FirefoxMozilla does an excellent job maintaining continuity in downloading nearly all sites. Try that browser instead of InternetExplorer and see if its better for you.

You could try using Mozilla Firefox instead of Internet Explorer to see if that makes a difference. You can use both browsers alongside.

Or could be high traffic on your local server. We're also with ntl and when ours corrupted last year we changed to a proxy server within the same cache. This was super slow due high traffic so we then changed to a faster one the other side of UK, maybe a quieter address. You can try different proxies here http://ben.cheetham.me.uk/resources/net/ntl-proxy-list
via my computer>control panel>internet options>connections>LAN settings and experiment with different addresses first within the same cache and if no improvement, a different one. You need to make a note of the original address so you can return in the future.

Viruses most likely, try erassing (get a system restore) you're whole computer and that would be the best job, to get it fixed properly then it shouldn't happen and once you done that install a antivirus before you go on the internet

Broadband connection or your Internet service provider has got nothing to do with your computer freezing.I hope you have Anti-virus installed on your system! It sounds like your computers are suffering from virus infection.

Are you giving it enough time to load the page?

Also check your cache setting. It may need to be adjusted.
From time to time you may also wish to empty your cache
and clear your history. It can help.

without a proper look at your pc i can;t tell you what it is, hoever i can tell you that its nothing to do with your broadband or your modem.

it could be a piece of software you have installed either yourself or that a web page has installed without your permission, it could be a virus or your pc could be overheating, it could also be a driver conflict.
