If you will be moving to America then yes, but if your just visiting than no. If you do move just look up in the Yellow book a local DMV and bring proof of residence, like a electric bill, and two forms of identification. You might have to take a drivers test to receive a license but they're easy so don't worry. Try to get there early morning because they fill up quickly. Take care and Welcome to America!

If you are visiting, many international licenses are accepted.
If you are taking up residence, even for only a year or two, you should get a state license for where you live.
If you plan on buying a car, you'll need a US license.

A european license should be fine. My husband's company has some people from Holland visiting this week - they rented cars and all with just their Holland driver's licenses.
