Salt added to water that is currently boiling may make the water boil over,
Salt added to water that has not begun to boil will allow the waters temerature to rise without causing it to boil (good for chefs).
Experiments done show that with every tablespoon added to boiling water will raise the tempereture by about 2-3 degress. However, when the salt was added to boiling water, the water bubbled up more and then stopped, but then resumed shortly after.
Hard to tell really....you should try it.

Any time you dissolve a solute in a solvent, it raises the boiling point and lowers the freezing point. There's a formula for calculating how much the bp and fp would change. So if your pure water is boiling at 100C and you add salt, you are raising the boiling point. It depends on how much salt you add. But the bp may go up to 101C, fo example.

This is why we add antifreeze to our cars. It keeps the radiator water from boiling away by raising the point at which it would normally boil away. So you can continue to circulate the hot water through the engine. Also, since the anti-freeze lowers the freezing point, it keeps the water from freezing at 0c. Instead, you lower the freezing point to well below 0C so you won't have a frozen engine in the winter.

It changes the concentration of the solution of boiling water, therefore changing the boiling point of the water to a higher point. So say i had 100 ml of water and added 5 grams of salt, the concentration would change to bring the boiling point to say, 103 degrees celsius instead of 100 degrees celcius. If you also want to know, it changes the freezing point of water also... to lower
