Salt will raise the boiling point of the water, so if you add it to water that is already boiling, it will stop boiling. This is called a colligative property and is specifically boiling point elevation. It will also make water freeze at colder temeratures, so if you add salt to ice water the temperature of the water will drop.

the more pure the water the slower it boils.
Adding salt toi water depurifies the water and speeds the process.
To show a dangerous example take a cup of water and microwave it for about 4 minutes,it wont boil . While it is still out of the micro=wave add salt and it will instangtly boil over.
