I have a job interview for a well paid internship and i was supposed to bring an official copy of my transcript. I forgot to order one, and I won't have it in time for the interview.

Be honest and tell them and also assure them that you will send it as soon as it comes in.

I don't know exactly how different the procedure is between my country and yours but here, a Course Credit Summary can be obtained in a matter of minutes from the school...this is normally a document used to transfer a student from one school to another mid-stream, but it carries all the information that is similar to that of the Official Transcript up to the final marks that are on file.

If you can determine whether your school has such a print out (it is on an Official letterhead) and order the Transcript at the same time (here it takes roughly 3-5 days to obtain if you pick up at school), this might assist you somewhat.

Hopefully, it won't impact you too much. They basically want to see what educational history you have and whether or not you've obtained the necessary level of credits/GPA necessary, so you might be able to swing this in time depending on how your system is set up and whether they will accept this in the interim. If your qualifications are what they are after, they'll be more willing to wait a day or two for the official transcripts. Owning up to the oversight will probably show them you accept responsibility for your own actions as well but come with an alternative to work from until the originally requested documentation is in hand.

If it is a meant to be opportunity...it will work out well. If not, it's a lesson learned.

Good luck!

You'll need to address it professionally. One, call the school and see if you an get an emergency, rush copy of the transcript and explain the circumstances. Two, get an unofficial copy and have that with you. Three, call ahead to the person you are interviewing and explain that you have your unofficial transcript, but have not yet received your official transcript and ask if it would be better to have the interview and await the transcript or reschedule the interview. They will probably have the interview and you will be viewed as having handled the situation appropriately. If you just show up and say 'duh, I don't got it' - they may view you as not having attention to detail or the ability to follow basic instructions. My suggestion shows that you discovered a problem and did what needed to be done to solve it, and you took ownership of it.

Hi, I'm a recruiter. You've got to go anyway, but I'd be very surprised if you got the internship. Planning ahead and making sure you were prepared is part of your interview. They will also be interviewing others who got their transcripts on time. You should go anyway, you can say there was a mix up with your transcript and you've reordered a copy, and see if that holds them over.

Well, I think you can save face, if after the appropriate introdcutries, you make it a point, and tell them ,look I don't want to waste my time or yours. There was a problem in getting my transcript. It is on the way, but, it did not arrive in time for this interview. instead of calling to reschedule or not show up at all. I wanted to have the chance to tell you what happened and let you know this is very important to me. Usually that answer or something similar will by you a lot in the interview process, it shows you do not run from problems, and that you rise to challenges.. Good LUCK.

Guh...that doesn't bode very well for you.

That should have been something you kept on top of. Most internships will want to see your transcripts...so my advice, order a few copies and keep them with you for any future interview.

Good luck.

Not vary, get what you can to take with you. Something is better than nothing. Take it in with you, make sure everything else is covered. Dress nice, be confident, don't mumble...**** like that. Then when it comes time to hand it over, give them what you have and blame the school. Who's to know. offer to fax it or bring it in ASAP. You know when its going to get to you, then give that date.

If you have 99% of everything, you will get the job. I have done this sort of thing before. I got a job. ALways order a few, not one at a time...

Man, that's not too bad. Don't worry about it. Don't screw yourself. Screw your internship! They wouldn't let you work there just because you forgot to bring your transcript? That's mean.

Okay, lets get this straight (not to be rude, just blunt)... If you aren't responsible enough to remember to order a transcript, would you be responsible to wake up, and go to work every day???

You have to think about it in your employers shoes, and well... You didn't deliver... So yes, I would say you are screwed... Sorry :(

See if the college you attended can fax a copy to you - a copy would be better than none at all!

Best wishes!

Well it's not a good thing, but you can explain things - maybe not completely honestly - and some interviewers are cool enough to let it slide. You will have to kill at your interview though.
